Tue, 30 October 2007 For your listening pleasure, a special all music with very little of me talking episode with a holiday theme. Take it with you to work, in the car, to a party, or just listen to it at home for a spooktacular time. Because, like Charlie Brown, sometimes you just gotta rock.Comments[0] |
Fri, 26 October 2007 In another epically long episode, I am joined by my best friend Mary,
as we try to answer tough questions about love and relationships
submitted by friends of my blog. Does size really matter? How do you
tell your significant other they need mental help? And what's up with
this polyamory sh*t? Find out!Comments[0] |
Fri, 19 October 2007 It's almost Halloween, so what better way to start celebrating than by talking about ghost stories? We'll talk about a few notable haunted house movies, plus I'll share a couple spooky stories of my own. Also, a capsule review of 'The Darjeeling Limited,' and I taste-test a holiday-themed soda. For more information on the Devil's Tree, visit http://www.weirdnj.com/stories/_night06.asp. special messages of love, a capsule review of 'Eastern Promises,' and
the usual rambling bullsh*t you've come to expect.Comments[0] |

Fri, 1 June 2007 Presenting the second half of my showcase on women in rock, not to mention my thoughts on 'Pirates of the Caribbean 3,' ranting about a trip to the zoo, and an unpopular opinion about a popular singer. I fully expect to alienate a good third of my audience!Comments[0] |

Fri, 20 April 2007 This episode spotlights notable Jewish musicians, with a diverse selection of performers that, much like a nice hot bowl of chicken soup, is sure to appeal to everyone's tastes. Also, I spend a considerable amount of time babbling about 'Grindhouse.'Comments[0] |
Thu, 5 April 2007 In this week's episode we'll celebrate glam rock, with a look at some of the legendary figures in the scene, 'Velvet Goldmine,' and the timeless appeal of pretty boys in makeup. Unrelated to the theme, I also explain why 'You Are Not a Winner' is an apt name for this podcast.Comments[0] |
Fri, 30 March 2007 As much as I'd like to think I can do without one, I've grudgingly given in and created a MySpace page for the podcast. You can check it out at myspace.com/youarenotawinner, though, like my podcast so far, it's pretty bare bones (although I did add a song to the profile, which is awesome). Just like when I made a personal page a while back (that I almost never use), I can't for the life of me figure out how to personalize the main profile page, not even how to change the colors. I tried checking out the forums, and found instructions, but for whatever reason they seemed completely incomprehensible. I realize this is simply an issue with me, and my utter failure to comprehend HTML any more complex than what would be used to create a Geocities page. I mean, if a 14 year-old can figure out how to change his or her background so that it consists of animated pot leaves, I should jolly well be able to figure out how to change mine from the default blue and white to black. Then again, as the Boyfriend said, I don't want to spend too much time tweaking with the less important aspects of the page, lest I become one of "those people." Still...Pixies, man, how fucking awesome is that? http://www.myspace.com/youarenotawinner Category: general -- posted at: 10:25 PM Comments[0] |
Thu, 29 March 2007 There's now a visual to go with the show. Thanks to Mike, pretty much the best ex-husband a girl could ask for, for designing it.I'm diligently making notes (in my head, which means they will soon disappear like earliest morning's dew drops) for the next show, a celebration of glam rock, as well as, completely unrelated to the subject, proof that my podcast is aptly named. Watch for it this time next week, barring natural disaster or a moment of clarity that will make me realize this is an ultimately pointless exercise.
